What you can buy with SNAP at Sheetz

SNAP covers food meant to be prepared or eaten at home. At Sheetz, that generally includes:

  • Packaged snacks, chips and candy
  • Bottled water, soda, juice and milk
  • Bread, fruit, cheese and other grocery items
  • Cold, packaged grab-and-go sandwiches and salads

What you can't buy with SNAP

  • Hot food, including MTO burgers, fryz and hot coffee
  • Food sold to be eaten in the store
  • Alcohol, tobacco and vapes
  • Fuel, car washes, lottery and non-food items like toiletries

Restaurant Meals Program

Some states run a Restaurant Meals Program that lets eligible SNAP recipients (often older adults, people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness) buy prepared meals at approved retailers. A Sheetz store can only accept SNAP for hot food if it's approved in that program, and few convenience stores are.

Using EBT at checkout

  1. Tell the cashier you'll pay with EBT, or put SNAP-eligible items in a separate group.
  2. Swipe or insert your EBT card and enter your PIN.
  3. Pay for non-eligible items with another payment method.

EBT cash benefits, where you have them, can generally be used for any item, like a debit card.
