Car and pickup diesel
At stores that sell diesel, it's usually available at the same fuel islands as gasoline, from a separate nozzle. Diesel nozzles are typically green or yellow-handled, but colors aren't standardized, so always read the label.
Truck lanes
Some larger Sheetz stores, often near interstates, have high-flow diesel lanes for tractor-trailers, with room to pull through. Not every store with diesel has truck access.
DEF
Diesel exhaust fluid is often sold in jugs inside the store, and some truck-lane locations have DEF at the pump.
Avoiding a misfuel
- Putting gasoline in a diesel engine can cause serious damage. If it happens, don't start the engine; call roadside assistance.
- Diesel in a gasoline car is less common because the nozzle is often larger, but it can still happen. Don't drive the car.
